OVERVIEW

U.S. Green Building Council Colorado (USGBC Colorado) is now accepting education session proposals for the 2017 Green Schools Summit, an all-day event produced by USGBC Colorado in collaboration with its Green Schools’ volunteers.

About Green Schools Summit

According to USGBC’s Center for Green Schools, a green school minimizes environmental impact, optimizes human health and performance and fosters a generation of environmentally literate students. Since 2007, USGBC Colorado has convened a broad group of stakeholders to highlight the importance of improving school environments and to share evidence that where we learn matters. School administrators, educators, energy managers, facilities directors, planners, architects, consultants, contractors, engineers, and advocates facilitate the Green Schools Summit educational programs and help attendees overcome hurdles to greening schools.

400 people are expected at this year’s Green Schools Summit, which will take place on Friday, November 3 at the Arvada Center in Arvada, Colorado.

Please contact Dannie Miller to learn more about the many benefits of supporting the Summit with your sponsorship: dmiller@usgbc.org or 303-292-6181.

This year’s theme is "Making Green Schools Add Up." In addition to their positive environmental attributes, green schools support the health (physical, social, intellectual) of students, teachers, and staff by providing a healthy, safe, comfortable, and functional physical environment. The Summit this year will be focusing on doing more with less. Schools are expected to yield better results with less resources year after year. A variety of reasons have caused this issue such as escalating construction costs, ever-limited funding, the growing population of Colorado, etc. The Summit will provide a platform where industry professionals and stakeholders can share how they have overcome difficulties and achieved better results in green schools.
